Martha Nell Greene

Martha Nell Greene was born on May 25, 1932 in Searcy, Arkansas to Hociel & Lela Chatman.

Early Childhood

Martha was reared in a Christian family and confessed her faith in Christ at an early age at Bethlehem Baptist Church.

Martha received her formal education through the Searcy Black Education System during Segregation. In 1957 Martha moved to Milwaukee. Martha furthered her education through her studies at Milwaukee Area Technical College (MATC) In Milwaukee. Graduating with a Degree in Social Worker. She worked as a Supervisor at John Oster Mfg. Company and Milwaukee County Hospital. Her most rewarding job was being a case worker with Milwaukee Dept of Health and Human Services. There she was able to go above and beyond mentoring single mothers; as well as her gifts of giving and wisdom.  

Martha was the family historian, she kept records of dates, marriages, births and deaths in her Bible. 

She found great enjoyment in mastering things in life, such as loving to cook, fish, sew, and traveling the highway to visit family. Her recipes will forever live on with us.  

Joined in Holy Matrimony with Joseph Hardin from this union, Phillip, Ronald, and Beverly were born.

“Life Full of Joy & Strength…”

On December 18, 2022, God sent his Angels to welcome the soul of His beloved daughter Martha Nell Greene, home as she was surrounded by her loving family. 

Awaiting her arrival in Heaven are her parents Hociel & Lela; son, Ronald Hardin, Sisters, Irene Rycraw, Liddie Mae Chatman, Alama Brown, and Edith Marie Smith.

“Oh How Precious are the Memories,…”

Martha’s loving memories will be cherished by son Phillip, and daughter Beverly (Maurice Pittman). Sibling Linda (Lee Freeman); Special step daughter Sheila Knox and Special Niece Kim Freeman. Many grandchildren, many great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. Host of nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.

Visitation Only Held at Heavenly Rest Funeral Home Chapel. Tuesday, December 27, 2022 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
